TrademarkVision is a world-leader when it comes to cutting-edge image recognition technology and artificial intelligence in the brand protection space.
Founded by Sandra Mau in 2011, TrademarkVision released the world’s first visual search for trademarks in 2013 - an easy-to-use online reverse image search tool - where previously the only way to search and discover similar image trademarks was through manual, time-consuming text-based searching methods, which are not only subjective but also error-prone.
In 2018, it launched a world first visual search for industrial designs, with IP Australia being the first government to explore the application of image recognition for designs, launching the first demonstration of the technology.
Its offerings make it simple and straightforward for creators, businesses and entrepreneurs to search and confirm their trademarks, designs and brands are original, but it also offers extra protection for existing brands’ intellectual property rights.
The development of this world-class technology lead to TrademarkVision securing contracts with patent and trademark offices around the world - including a multimillion-dollar deal with IP Australia and the European Union Intellectual Property Office, as well as many other government bodies, law firms and corporates around the globe - forever changing the industry with a modernised, streamlined process.
Along its journey, the Brisbane born and bred startup was one of the first recipients of funding from the Queensland University of Technology's Creative Enterprise Australia (CEA).
In October 2018, TrademarkVision was acquired by Clarivate Analytics following a year-long partnership, which saw the technology embedded into CompuMark’s search engine TMgo365; CompuMark provides trademark research and brand protection solutions and is a subsidiary of Clarivate Analytics.
TrademarkVision CEO and Founder Sandra Mau says CompuMark is a leader in trademark research and protection and that this acquisition offers “real validation” of their vision.
“As part of CompuMark, TrademarkVision will have access to a global network and the largest set of trademark data in the world, which will ensure our next generation solutions reach and support trademark professionals everywhere,” she says.
