Cohort Go

Digital platform for international students

Australian-based edtech company Cohort Go has serviced over 100,000 international students across the globe with its digital platform.

“It’s a really big win and the momentum is quickly building,” says Cohort Go CEO and co-founder Mark Fletcher, who founded the Brisbane-based company along with Paul Jones in 2011.

There have been many wins for Cohort Go, including two new global clients.

“We recently signed up UniLodge, which is Australia’s number one provider of student accommodation, and they’re now using our payments platform to accept payments from all around the world,” said Mark.

“We also signed up IDP, which is the world’s largest education agent, placing international students into more than 600 institutions across Australia, New Zealand, the USA, UK and Canada,” he says.

Going forwards Mark says the focus will be on continuing to build out services to offer students when they’re travelling all over the world.

“At the moment our product suite includes payments, insurance and a few other services, into Australia and a little bit around the world.

“But going forward, building a holistic offering globally is the key continual focus for us - and will be for the next two to three years from a product point of view.”

Along its startup journey Cohort Go has received two Accelerating Commercialisation Grants and an Export Market Development Grant.

“A number of years ago we also received funding from a fund called Allectus Capital,” says Mark.

“That really allowed us to grow our staffing capability. We’ve grown from three or four people to now, having a team of over 40 people globally, and offices in 12 countries including throughout Asia and South America.”

“We’re looking forward to growing and evolving in the coming years, servicing more and more international students and delivering an all-encompassing service that makes their experiences abroad easier and richer.”
