Our OQCE Innovation road trips have a simple mission but a complex task: to connect with founders, engage with rural and regional entrepreneurs and search for the DNA of innovation in Queensland.
The questions we want to answer:
- What people, infrastructure and circumstances does innovation need to thrive in Queensland?
- How can it be fostered in existing or new entities?
- What can we learn from other countries, other cultures and other industries?
This year, our innovation road trips take us to places that do remarkable work in driving and fostering change (pun intended!). Like regional communities and cities that create environmentally friendly quarters or tackle infrastructure issues in an exemplary way. And family-owned companies that are managing to become innovation leaders. Or emerging startups disrupting the field... individuals that pull the strings as innovators, and established players creating new and promising team structures.
We are not looking for the newest gadget, but rather for the underlying convictions and principles it takes to create an innovation-friendly atmosphere. We invite the local changemaker community to send in recommendations for places to visit via social media - we may not get to it all but we’ve got 24 hours each day to try and #GSD! While travelling, we will visit companies, entrepreneurs, organisations and cities to look behind the scenes. Daily reports about the findings are being posted on our channels. After our trips, we will work with the findings in continued reports, talks and maybe a book - so stay tuned!
Our first trip from 15 July to 1 August takes us to fourteen cities:
Other cities will follow in September 2020.
