Women's Cocktail Hour
Why do we need a Women’s Cocktail Hour you ask? It’s a valid question. It’s certainly not because women are afraid of networking with men, or because women are ‘anti-men’ in any way. It is purely and simply because at the many co-ed networking events we hold, it is distinctly noticeable that women are under-represented. The gender balance is uneven and our economy and brain pool is the poorer for it. For this reason we joined forces with the Brisbane A.I Group to actively encourage more female participation in the regular Brisbane A.I meetups and generally support women taking the leap into entrepreneurship.
Over 100 women turned out at our first Cocktail Hour of 2018. Judging by the volume bouncing off the Stair Stadium there was no need for ice-breakers as the ladies enjoyed Aperol spritzers courtesy of local podcaster & Morgans stockbroker Chris Titley.
Acting Chief Scientist, Dr Christine Williams, plans to be a regular at the events, saying:
“For me, it was a great opportunity to talk to women who have bravely taken the plunge establishing their own businesses. Female entrepreneurs are very much in the minority and this is a great opportunity for women to meet with others for mutual moral and other support.”
